When Jim Oberhofer met Doug Baker at TECAT they talked about measuring torque clutch wear, horsepower and more. Jim was a bit skeptical at first but then he came to realize the potential. Here’s what Jim had to say:

Back when I met Doug Baker at TECAT sensors, he came to me and said, “Hey, I’ve got this product that we can measure torque. We can measure clutch wear, horsepower.”

All of these things that we never would have dreamed that we could measure. It was in this real small package. At first I was like, “Yeah right, this isn’t going to work. What makes the TECAT product different than anybody else’s product?’

As I started working with Doug and we started testing the product and we started really seeing some results that we really never would have thought we would’ve seen before. It definitely makes you take a different look at what you’re doing as far as I tune a race car, or how we approach things. We think we have just scratched the surface on what this product can do.

We’re hoping for much more as we move into the future to where, we can get more valuable information that will make us here at Kalitta Motor Sports a better team and make our race cars better race cars. Ultimately give us better performance on the race track.
