Together with our partner company Poly-Shape, capricorn is proud to present the first fully functional 3D printed crankshaft. Produced from a typical prototype steel grade, the crankshaft has been designed to make full use of the lightening possibilities of additive manufacturing.  As a result, thanks to some unique features, the part offers a 30% weight saving compared with the billet crankshaft produced from the same material.

Beside the impressive weight saving performances, this part also provides some significant time saving potential. From design to finished part, the turnaround time can be reduced by 50% over the original process.

This clearly bears great potential, not only in the field of prototype manufacturing but also for niche production volumes.
