Fastener Head Strength: Defining the Metrics and Why It Is Critical

Recent issues with EN standards failing qualification for tensile strength prompted The Phillips Screw Company to review our design standards to assure that all of our fasteners would perform to the requirements. As a result of this result of this review and our subsequent work with end users and our licensees we found that many design and standards engineers did not have a full understanding of the factors that influence fastener head strength. We have developed a "White Paper" that provides a clear understanding of the factors that influence the Head Strength Ratio (HSR) and why they are a critical consideration in selecting the best fastener for a specific application.

Questions regarding the White Paper and the fastener Head Strength Ratio can be sent to Michael Mowins ([email protected]) or Stefan Szczurek ([email protected]). We will be glad to answer any questions and assist you in optimizing for fastener designs and capabilities.
