Connecting, Conducting, and Shielding Solutions in the Automotive Industry
This sequence demonstrates the performance of Bal Seal Engineering, Inc.'s (http://www.balseal.com) connecting, conducting, and shielding solutions in a conceptual hybrid vehicle. The first segment illustrates the use of a Bal Spring® canted coil spring in a Lithium Ion battery connector. These contacts allow current to flow between the transmission and battery, and a surrounding spring provides EMI shielding. In the next segment, Bal Springs enable a recharging cable to connect with the hybrid vehicles filler port. The final segment illustrates the mechanical locking capability of canted-coil springs by joining an interior panel to the vehicles metal frame.
